The Coffee House Latte - How To Make The Perfect Latte
Craving a coffee house latte? Here are some tips and information that may help satiate that latte addiction. If
you're new to coffee houses, or just want to make your own coffee house latte, you'll want to know how a latte
should be prepared.
A coffee house latte is basically a little coffee mixed with lots of milk and topped with a small head of foam.
A perfect treat for the person who's not so fond of coffee. Making a latte is quite easy. You'll need to be able to
prepare espresso, steam your milk, and whip up a little foam to top it off.
The proper ratio to make a coffee house latte is one shot espresso and, depending on your taste, three to six
shots steamed fresh milk (any type of milk will do), and usually topped with a layer of foam. A shot of espresso is
generally one-ounce of coffee topped with a crema. The crema is a foamy cream of coffee oil created by by the
espresso machine. So, as you can see, making a latte is a fairly simple process.
Use a high quality coffee bean, freshly ground. The home of espresso is Italy and their espresso is made from
high quality Arabica beans. Keep in mind that most of the world production of coffee beans is Arabica, followed by
Robusta, and just because the bean is labeled Arabica doesn't mean it is good quality.
You'll be better off using a high-quality Robusta coffee bean, or a quality blend, when Arabica is not
available. As a general rule, the Arabica coffee bean has about half the caffeine of the Robusta, so if you want to
lower your caffine intake, use Arabica coffee beans when you prepare your coffee house latte.
